This petition has been set up to lobby the European Parliament, to raise their awareness to public opinion on the issue of an EU-wide Alert system, for missing children.
The USA have had the "Amber Alert" system for a number of years and it has proved to be a vital link in the search missing children. The "Amber Alert" Program, named after 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, is a voluntary partnership that focuses on co-operation and standardised search procedures between police and the media.
An Alert System would immediately supply to relevant news media,
border authorities, customer and law enforcement agencies, details of:
-The missing child, with a photograph, if available;
Information relevant to the disappearance and/or the suspected
abductor(s)
A telephone number to call with information.
